Shirley Mae Favazza

Shirley Mae Favazza went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Shirley was born on March 6, 1933, in California, Missouri to Charles Bertram and Susan Ann Bolin. She had five siblings: Dorsey, Howard, Norman, Kenny and Darlene. She enjoyed playing on the softball team, was graced as the homecoming queen, and graduated as Valedictorian from California High School in 1951. She then met and married the love of her life, Frank Favazza on June 10, 1952. The newlyweds relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. They welcomed their 1st child, Mark, in 1958, and their daughter, Janet, in 1960. Shirley worked as an executive secretary for Chrysler Corporation for 27 years, (she was a stay at home mom from 1957 to 1969, while her children were young.) Upon retiring from Chrysler, she took a job in Nashville, Tennessee in 1992, for seven years as the Executive Secretary to her dear friend Jimmy Draper, president of the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board (Lifeway). After retiring from Lifeway in 1999, Shirley and Frank moved back to the Kansas City northland. Shirley had been married to Frank for 54 years when he passed away March 19, 2006. It was heartbreakingly difficult to lose the man who so consummately adored her and communicated that adoration so eloquently every single day of their lives together. Shirley lived 13 years longer and rejoined her beloved Frank in heaven on August 17, 2019. She is survived by her son, Mark Favazza (Vicki); daughter, Janet Favazza; grandson, Matthew Favazza (Alisha); granddaughter, Elizabeth Favazza; great-grandson, David Favazza; her brother, Dorsey Bolin (Louise); other in-laws, Betty Bolin and Jimmy Williams, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews and their families. We take comfort that Shirley is in the presence of the Lord and that she is reunited with her beloved husband Frank. He is surely right now reading her all the poems and love letters he wrote for her while waiting to be rejoined. Frank and Shirley Favazza loved each other well and were the most godly, loving parents..Mark and Janet were truly blessed. Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 10 a.m. at Vineyard Church (12300 NW Arrowhead Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64165). Family will receive friends at 9 a.m.
