Wanda Lee Monroe

Wanda Lee (Swoboda) Monroe, 80, of California, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia, Mo. She was born on September 4, 1939 in Union, Mo., Franklin County, the daughter of Ralph Swoboda and Wetona P. (Pointer) Swoboda, both of whom preceded her in death. Wanda attended Miller Grove Country School in Linn, Mo. for four years, attended Catholic School for the fifth grade in Union, Mo., and attended Linn Public Schools grades six through twelve. She was married on September 14, 1957 in Linn, Mo., to Eugene Monroe, who survives of the home. Wanda worked at the Linn Manufacturing Pants Factory, worked on the farm milking cows with her husband, then moved to California, Mo. in 1962 and went to work at the Cargill Turkey Plant as a supervisor for 18 years in California, Mo. She also worked at Berlin Wheeler as a skip tracer in Jefferson City, Mo., then went to work at the California Democrat in the advertising department. She was a Charter Member of California Eagles Club #4027. Wanda enjoyed camping, fishing, crafts, and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include one son: Michael Monroe (Tawnie) of Jamestown, Mo.; two daughters: Pamela Sue Brauner (Stan) of California, Mo. and Patricia Ann Oerly (Terry) of Jamestown, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday November 11, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:00 a.m., all at the Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. Officiating will be Father Tony Renaldo. Burial will be at the Community of Christ Cemetery in Linn, Mo. Memorials are suggested to The Family of Wanda Lee Monroe, c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California, Mo.
