Dorothy Alma Scheidt

SCHEIDTDorothy Alma Scheidt, 93, of California, Missouri, passed away on November 13, 2019, at her residence.She was born November 14, 1925, in California, Missouri, the daughter of Peter and Alma (Fischer) Bestgen.She married Anthony Louis "Tony" Scheidt on November 12, 1947, at Annunciation Catholic Church.Dorothy was a 1943 graduate of California High School in California, Missouri. She worked as a bookkeeper at Co-Mo Electric and California Woolen Mill prior to her marriage to Tony. Following her marriage, Dorothy became a loving homemaker to her husband and children.She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in California where she served on the cemetery committee. She also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and volunteered for Meals On Wheels. Dorothy served on the Moniteau County Fair Board and was caretaker of the Art Hall during the fair. She enjoyed embroid-ery and working on cross-word puzzles.Survivors include nine children, Mary Lou Scheidt, California; Rita Scheidt, Jefferson City; Michael (Karen) Scheidt, St. Louis; Carol Ann (Bill) Moore, Kansas City; Stephen (Sylvia) Scheidt, California; Alan (Cinda) Scheidt, California; James (Cindy) Scheidt, California; Andrew (Maureen) Scheidt, St. Louis; Judith Hurt, California; 19 grandchildren, Michael (Kris) Scheidt, Jr., Gregory (Suzanne) Scheidt, Douglas (Shawn) Scheidt, Benjamin (Jennipher) Moore, Joshua Moore, John (Angela) Scheidt, Teressa (Chris) Jacoby, Tana (Shannan) Sisco, Jeffrey (DeAndra) Scheidt, Trisha Scheidt (Chris Swearingen), Jack (Jill) Scheidt, Kristen (Seth) Everett, Lisa (James) Milligan, Clinton Scheidt, Leslie Scheidt, Chelsea Scheidt (fiancé TJ Parthemer), Madeline Scheidt, Amanda (Adam) Gorham, Anthony (Molly) Hurt; 29 great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Charles Bestgen, Tipton; Louis (Linda) Bestgen, California; Margaret Reynolds, California; and Loretta (Don) George, California.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Tony; one son, Richard Scheidt; five brothers, Edward, Harold, Fr. Jerome, Robert, and Frederick Bestgen; one sister, Mary Louise Bestgen; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Elizabeth Scheidt.A Rosary Service was held at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Annunciation Catholic Church, followed by the Visita-tion from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony R. "Tony" Rinaldo officiating.
