Marjorie Smith Howard
Marjorie Smith Howard, 102, of California, Mo., passed away on
Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at the Moniteau Care Center in
California, Mo.
She was born on March 7, 1917, in Cooper County, Mo., the
daughter of Paris W. Herndon and Eunice (Dearing) Herndon, both
of whom preceded her in death.
She was married in California, on October 12, 1935, to Carl N.
Smith, who preceded her in death on July 16, 1974. She was
married in California to Thomas J. Howard on May 9, 1981, who
preceded her in death on May 21, 2013.
Marjorie graduated from California High School in 1934.
She was employed in Jefferson City for over 30 years, retiring in
1966 as a caregiver and homemaker.
She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and Senior
Adult Ladies Sunday School Class, a Charter member of the
Sunshine Club of First Baptist Church, and also a former member of
the California Area Senior Citizens.
Marjorie is survived by cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Elaine
Chambers and Betty Lee Herndon.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 7, 2019 at BowlinCantriel Funeral Home in California, Mo. with Bro. Steve Webb
officiating. Burial was at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Main Street Baptist
Church Building Fund, c/o the funeral home.
Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel
Funeral Services, California, Mo.
