Virginia Mae Conrad-Barbour

Virginia Mae Conrad-Barbour, 91, of California, MO, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019, at California Care Center. Virginia was born May 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Iona Blochberger. She graduated from Centertown High School in 1946. On July 25, 1947, she was married to Clyde E. Conrad, who preceded her in death on May 8, 2003. On November 5, 2006, she married Norman (Bob) Barbour, who preceded her in death on May 31, 2010. Virginia was a lifelong member of Centertown Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. After her children got older, she worked for Vic Witthaus at his grocery store and later C. Gordon Price. She worked at the Conservation Employees Credit Union from 1972 until her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and dominoes and loved putting puzzles together. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters: Sharon (Jack) Edwards of Russellville and Kathy (Joe) Allen of California; five grandchildren: Rodney (Amy) Edwards, Travis Edwards, Emily (Wyatt Henley) Messerli, Penny (Alan) Harris, and Jay (Aubrey Moss) Allen; nine great-grandchildren: Justice Miller; Macie and Courtney Edwards; Spencer, Lexy, and Kooper Messerli; Bennett and Rhett Harris; and Presley Allen; one brother, Carl (Minnie) Blochberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Clyde Conrad; and her husband, Norman Barbour; two brothers, Paul and Earl Blochberger; and one great-grandson, Lucas Jack Edwards. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. with funeral service following at 3 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Bickel officiating, all at Centertown Baptist Church. Burial will be at Centertown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Centertown Baptist Church or Centertown Cemetery Fund.
