Ronald Dean Williams, age 65, of El Paso, Texas, passed away of Covid-19 and other medical complications at Del Sol Medical Center, El Paso, Texas, on November 6, 2020. Ronald was born on September 21, 1955, at home in Kansas City to Harvey E. and Grace M. (Harrington, Smith) Williams. He lived in California, Missouri, and went to California R-1 School. He was married to Linda Vega on October 12, 2002, in El Paso, Texas. Ron decided he wanted to be a truck driver and moved to El Paso Texas 37 years ago. He loved his career. It was in his blood, as his dad, Harvey, and brother Leslie drove trucks for most of their life. He was driving for Howl Transportation Company when he became sick. His other passion began at a young age of 12-14 years when his mom and dad bought Ron a drum set. He went on to play in a couple of bands. One was the Backwoods-Men Band where he played with Jim Smith, his brother Les Harrington, and Floyd Hill. Ron was also the original drummer for the Midland Opry show with the Midlands Band in 1974, at the Ritz Theatre in California, Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Linda Williams of the home; stepson, Joel Vega with his wife Jessie, and two grandchildren, Alani and Elijah Vega. He loved his grandchildren and spoiled them every chance that he had. Other survivors are Leslie Harrington (Karol), Connie Figueira (David), and Colene Volkart (Danny). Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Grace Williams; and brother, Gary Don Williams. Ronald's services were held at La Paz Perches Funeral Home. Private visitation services were held at the funeral home on Monday, November 16, 2020, with graveside services held at Mount Carmel Cemetary, El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.
