Jerry Wells

Jerry W. Wells, 73, of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at his residence. He was born on October 17, 1947, in California, Mo., the son of Ott W. and Ruth A. (Bolin) Wells, both preceded him in death. Jerry married Patty Marie Jobe on June 16, 1968. Patty passed away on December 1, 2016. To this union, two children were born: Kevin William and Jennifer Lynn. Jerry graduated from California High School in 1965 and Westminster College in 1969 with a B.S. Degree in Education. He taught and coached at Pilot Grove, Mo. High School and California, Mo. High School, retiring in 2003. He was also employed by Clennin Meats, City of California and California Ford-Mercury. He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in California, Mo. was a member of California Lodge #183, A.F.& A.M., the California Country Club, and served on the City of California Fire Dept. Jerry was very proud of his children and grandchildren and supported them in their activities. Jerry is survived by his son, Kevin William Wells and wife Sara of Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Jennifer Roush of California, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kirstyn Conley (Will) of Jamestown, Mo., Kelsey Roush (Wade) of California, Mo., Jace and Gage Wells of Springfield, Mo.; great-grandson, Marshall Wells Phillips; twin brother, Gary Wells (Alana) of California, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the First Baptist Church Sanctuary in California, Mo. with the Rev. Jeremy Anderson officiating. Private family inurnment was at the California Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to California First Baptist Church Funeral Dinner Fund or Goldschmidt Cancer Center Infusion Room. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak St. California, Mo.
