Betty Lou George

Betty Lou George, 84, of Jamestown, died Friday, February 21, 2020, at Tipton Oak Manor. She was born July 7, 1935, near Cotton in Cooper County, Missouri to Herman Adolph and Elva Beatrice (Whittaker) Dick. She attended Dick's Mill School and graduated from Bunceton High School in 1953. On December 1, 1956, Betty was married to James Richard "J. R." George in Kansas City, Missouri. Early in her career, she worked as a nurse aide, and later as a keypunch operator. She was a partner in the J. R. George Foundation Company along with her husband J.R., and cousin, Richard Dick, and served as Secretary and Treasurer from 1965-1980. Betty enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family. Betty is survived by her husband, J. R. George of Jamestown; two daughters, Cheryl (C.H.) Cassil of Jamestown and Susan (Joe) Brockhaus of Warrensburg; four grandchildren, Shawna (Brent) Schnieders of Jefferson City, Jeremy (Michele) Cassil of Centertown, Kyle (Stephanie) Brockhaus of Warrensburg, and Lauren (Jake) Duvall of Butler; eight great-grandchildren, Blake Scholl, Cameron and Reece Schnieders, Kaden and Klara Cassil, Kynlee and Karsyn Brockhaus, and Beau Duvall. She is also survived by a brother, Don (Dorothy) Dick of Mexico, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, Howard, and Jerry Dick. Funeral Services will be at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Bruce Jeffries officiating. Interment will follow at the California City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church of Jamestown, Alzheimer's Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
