Bertha Mary Witt

Bertha Mary Witt, age 76, passed away on December 29, 2019, at her home near California, Mo. She was born October 28, 1943, near McGirk, the daughter of Walter and Clara Mae (Gregory) Reichel, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a graduate of California High School. On May 30, 1965, Bertha Mary was married to Gordon Witt, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1997. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in McGirk. Bertha Mary worked for the Striderite Shoe Company in Tipton, California Democrat, KWRT radio station and was a caregiver for several families in California. Later, she owned and operated her own business, Witt Enterprises selling promotional advertising, home care items and greeting cards. Bertha Mary assisted her son with his business in various capacities. Bertha Mary helped her husband on the family farm. She was a lifelong gardener and canned fruits and vegetables for her family. She enjoyed creating plastic canvas items, cooking, playing and singing hymns on the organ and piano. She was very active in area churches taking on a multitude of roles. Bertha Mary is survived by her son, Darrell Witt of the home, several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service with Rev. Jeremy Barnard officiating.
