William "Billy" Charles Porter

William Charles "Billy" Porter, 68, of California, Mo., passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020, at his residence. He was born on June 1, 1951, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of William "Cannonball" Porter whom preceded him in death and Norma June (Gradolf) Porter whom survives of the home. Billy was a graduate of Jamestown High School. He was united in marriage on March 26, 1999, at the Jamestown Assembly of God to Lori (Heiland) Porter whom survives of the home. His passion in life was living, working and maintaining the family farm. Billy and Norma are owners of a Missouri Century Farm called Valley View Farm, was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church since childhood. He worked as a maintenance worker for MODOT where he retired after twenty six years. After retirement, he went to work driving a school bus for the Jamestown School District which he thoroughly enjoyed. Billy enjoyed racing sprint cars and was a three time XX Speedway Sprint Car Track Champion. He also raced for many years at local tracks like Capital Speedway, and State Fair Speedway. Survivors include one daughter; Ashley Frazier (Mike) of Marion, Mo.; two sisters: Sharon Wegener (Ercell) of California, Mo., Patty Waldron of Lee's Summit, Mo.; three grandchildren: Zachary, Lilly, Hudson Frazier; two foster grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Jamestown, Mo. Officiating was Pastor Steve Watson. Burial was at St. Paul's Cemetery in Jamestown, Mo. Memorials were suggested to St. Paul's Evangelical Church Remodeling Project, Salem U.C.C. or Buddy Pack Program c/o the funeral home. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
