Stephen Douglas WilsonJune 24th, 2020
Stephen Douglas Wilson, 77, of Whitehall, Md., died at home on Friday, June 5, 2020. The second to last of 12 children, Stephen grew up in California, Mo. His parents were Belva and Marie Wilson, lifelong residents of California, Mo., both deceased. Stephen graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, one of the top of his class. After college, he served in the Army and spent over a year in Vietnam serving as a Veterinarian for the Army's dogs. After the army, Stephen moved to Florida with his wife Linda Herkenhoff Wilson and the two had a daughter, Angela Marie Wilson. In 1980, they moved to Maryland where he and Linda started the Jarrettsville Veterinary Center. Steve and Linda divorced and he met his forever wife, Kay Bond, a native of Maryland. The two lived in White Hall, Md. together until the day he died. They both loved animals and had several dogs of their own, including their current dog, Cricket. Steve loved working in his yard, spending time with his family, and being at the ocean. As Steve's health progressively worsened, Kay took incredible care of him, which allowed him to die gracefully and peacefully in their own home. Steve was loved by his family, friends, neighbors and those who worked with him. He was a gentle, kind and patient man who will be deeply missed and remembered by many. Steve had four brothers: two deceased, Donald Gene (Jim), and Keith; two surviving are Arthur Wilson, Kansas City, Mo. and Belva Wilson JR. of Joliet, Ill. He had seven sisters: one deceased, Mary Dolores Neese of Overland, Park, Kan.; six surviving sisters are Joyce Wells, Lee's Summit, Mo., Shirley Neese, Leawood, Kan., Carol Tuttle, Overland Park, Kan., Virginia Strickfaden, California, Mo., Judy Barbour, California, Mo. and Lynda Gray, Oviedo, Fla. A memorial service for Stephen will be held in Maryland at a later date.
