Shelba Dean Hees, 83, of California, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Valley Park West in California, Missouri. She was born on December 4, 1936, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late James and Nellie (Hossman) George. She was united in marriage on January 15, 1955 in Clarksburg, Missouri to Murrel Lee Hees, who preceded her in death on December 4, 2001. She was a graduate of Jamestown C-1 High School. Shelba worked for the California Jacket Factory for 18 years as a Floor Supervisor. She resigned from the factory to raise her four children where she was a beloved wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also a childcare provider for over 30 years which included caring for most all of her grandchildren. Shelba was a long time member of Lupus Baptist Church and later in life she attended Grace United Methodist in Jamestown and California United Church of Christ. She loved children, gardening, attending her grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with her family. Shelba truly loved serving others her entire life. Shelba is survived by her four children: Steve (Vicky) Hees of Jamestown, Rusty (Leisa) Hees of Jamestown, Diane (Mark) Knipp of Tipton, and Kent (Courtney) Hees of California; one brother: JR George of Jamestown; two sisters: Janece McCormick of Independence, Missouri and Velma Nichols of Napoleon, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Cale (Nicole) Hees, Larissa (Greg) Wehmeir, Chad Hees, Lance (Rachel) Hees, Lyndsey (Seth) Stauffer, Madison Knipp, McKenna Knipp, Trystan Hees and Rylee Hees; nine great-grandchildren: Alyssa Hees, Levi Hees, Jolee Hees, Kendall Wehmeir, Layton Wehmeir, Anna Hees, Brantlee Hees, Evis Stauffer, and Argo Stauffer. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Cameron Lee Hees; three sisters: Norma Hutchison, Mary Morrison, and Ruth George; and one brother, Arnold George. A private burial will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Pallbearers will be: Cale Hees, Lance Hees, Chad Hees, Trystan Hees, Greg Wehmeir, Seth Stauffer, and Cameron Backes. A celebration of life is tentatively scheduled on June 20, 2020 with more details to follow for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Compassus Hospice of Jefferson City, Missouri or Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jamestown, Missouri.
