Kenneth Dean Fischer, 86, of California, Mo., died Sunday, May 10, 2020, at his home. He was born April 22, 1934, in California, Mo., the son of Clarence N. and Bernice E. (Reed) Fischer. On October 28, 1961, in California, Mo., Kenney was married to Shirley Ann McMillian, who preceded him in death. Together, they had three children: Mary Christine Fischer of Jamestown, Patrick Wayne Fischer, and David William Fischer, both of California, Mo. Kenny served in the United States Army in the Korean War from December 1956 to December 1958. For many years, Kenny worked at Thriftway Grocery Store and Burger's Smokehouse. Kenny and Shirley were also small business owners in the community for several years, operating Kenny's 66 Cafe and the Uptown Cleaners. Kenny was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and son. He had many talents which included painting, woodworking, writing, and artistry in general. Kenny enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his two beloved Yorkies, Ernie and Levi. Kenny was a friend of many, and a stranger to none, with a dashing smile, and a delightful sense of humor. In addition to his three children, he is survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In accordance with current COVID guidelines, social distancing and attendance recommendations will be followed. Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. with Rev. Alex Gabriel officiating. Interment followed at the Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to Annuciation Catholic Cemetery or Annuciation Catholic Church.
