David Wesley Barbour, 74, of California, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at his home. He was born on December 14, 1945 in Latham, Mo., the son of Herschel Barbour and Letha (Bayne) Barbour, both of whom preceded him in death. David was a 1963 graduate of Tipton High School. He was united in marriage on August 12, 1967 at the First Baptist Church in California, Mo. to Beverly Denise (Dunham) Barbour, whom preceded him in death on August 21, 2011. He served in the U.S. Army 173 Airborne in Vietnam. David grew up going to the Latham Christian Church. He worked for Fischer's Pool and Billiards in Tipton, Hoback Construction, Correctional Officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections, and the Moniteau County road and bridge crew. David enjoyed listening to music, working with horses, long drives in the country with his wife, and loved his family and grandchildren very much. Survivors include: one son, Bryan Barbour and his wife Tara of California, Mo.; one daughter, Lynn Schmitz and her husband Dan of Jefferson City, Mo.; three brothers, Bill Barbour, Jim Barbour, John Barbour; five sisters, Kathy Garber, Nancy Bolinger, Bonnie Barbour, Carol Morrison, Cheryl Duvall; five grandchildren, Molly Schmitz, Ethan Schmitz, Libby Schmitz, Kolten Barbour, and McKayne Barbour. He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Embry. A Public Graveside Service was held on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the California City Cemetery with full military honors. Rev. Stephen Bickel officiated. Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans D.A.V., c/o the funeral home. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
