Eugene Monroe

Eugene Monroe, 83, of California, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at his residence. He was born on January 2, 1937 in Osage County, the son of William Reed Monroe and Mildred Lucille (Evans) Monroe, both of whom preceded him in death. Eugene attended Pointers Creek School and Linn Public Schools. He was united in marriage on September, 14, 1957 at the St. George Catholic Church in Linn, Mo., to Wanda Lee (Swoboda) Monroe, who preceded him in death on November 6, 2019. Eugene worked for Twin City Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing for 20 years; he worked for MODOT as a Core Driller for 16 years and farmed many years on the family farm. Survivors include one son, Michael Monroe (Tawnie) of Jamestown, Mo.; two daughters, Pamela Sue Brauner (Stan) of California, Mo., Patricia Ann Oerly (Terry) of Jamestown, Mo.; one brother, John Monroe of Linn, Mo.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Monroe, and one sister, Lillian Gove. A Public Graveside Service was held on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at the Community of Christ Cemetery near Linn, Mo.
