Joe L. McDonald, 69, of Prairie Home, Mo., passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. He was born on May 27, 1951 in North Braddock, Pa., the son of Joseph Leo McDonald Sr. and Olive Grace (Guy) McDonald, both of whom preceded him in death. Joe was in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage on October 8, 1985 in California, Mo. to Julia (Stobb) McDonald, who survives of the home. Joe worked as a Correctional Officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections until retiring after 22 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Leo McDonald III (Christina) of Dubois, Pa. and Charles Allen McDonald (Carrie) of Boonville, Mo.; one daughter, Nyoka Jean (McDonald) Yeokem (Ryan) of Kingwood, Texas; one step-son, James Doughtery (Billie) of Dubois, Pa.; seven sisters, Donna Stewart of Connellsville, Pa., Janet Naglich of East Pittsburgh, Pa., Betty Humble of Hamiton, Pa., Barbara Riling of Murphy, N.C., Vickie Smith of Murphy, N.C., Linda Laing of Archdale, N.C., Rachel Kaefer of Archdale, N.C.; one nephew, Frank Greijack (Eileen) of Tipton, Mo.; three nieces, Dawn Forsee of Clarksburg, Mo., Michelle Greijack of Tipton, Mo., Rachelle Smith of Tipton, Mo.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Greijack and Olive Grace Hartless. A Celebration Of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Patriot Guard Riders, c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services of California, Mo.
