Henry Francis Jacobs, 88, of Lohman, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 5, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born April 23, 1932, in Lohman, Missouri, the son of the late Frank and Virginia (Meller) Jacobs. At the age of 20, Henry was drafted to serve his country in the United States Army from November of 1952 to 1954 and was stationed at West Point, New York, during the Korean Conflict. Henry was positioned in the Tank Division where he trained cadets to operate the tanks. Experiencing West Point was truly a highlight of his life. He received an Honorable Discharge and returned to the family farm. He was united in marriage to Velma Horak on October 26, 1953, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Mo. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage. Henry was a life-long Cole County farmer. He was a very hard worker, showed much pride and joy toward the farm and his cattle. He enjoyed baling hay, and welding to create projects of his own. Henry also loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed Country music, dancing, and going to Branson with St. Paul's Lutheran Travel, from Lohman; which he went 20+ years in succession with his wife. He was a member of St Martin Catholic Church in St Martins, served on the Board of Directors for the Lohman Producers Exchange for several years, and was a member of the community Coon Club for numerous years. Survivors include his wife, Velma Jacobs, Lohman; four children, D'Wayne (Jo Ann) Jacobs, Lohman; Darla (Randy) Heckman, Folk; Denise (Roy) Hentges, Centertown; Dana (Leon) Struemph, Lohman; 11 grandchildren; Kim (Joel) Lucas, Adam (Tamra) Jacobs, Mike (Gina) Heckman, Stephen (Julie) Heckman, Alesha (Scott) Schlueter, Staci (Blain) Kiesling, Amanda Hentges, Courtney (Ethan) Robinett, Cody Hentges, Daryl (Samantha) Struemph, and Derik Struemph; 12 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; six siblings, Betty Harrison, Fulton; Vernie (Eddie) Eichholz, Westphalia; Lucy Bennett, Lohman; Shirley (Bill)Forck, Benton; Marilyn (Leon)Keller, Lohman; John (Donna) Jacobs, Lohman; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Jacobs; and his sister, Ethel Bernskoetter. Visitation was 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville. Additional visitation was 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins with the Rev. Jason Doke officiating. Entombment with military honors was in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus or St. Martin Catholic Church.
