Gary A. Bardwell

Gary A. Bardwell, 76, of California, Mo., passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at California Care Center. He was born December 12, 1944, at Latham Sanitarium in California, Mo., the son of William (Bill) S. and Mary Jane (Meyer) Bardwell. He graduated from California High School in 1964. After graduation, Gary worked at Latham Sanitarium and California Manufacturing for a short time. He then went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer in Jefferson City and Tipton, retiring after 33 years in 1999. He was married on January 6, 1968, at Annunciation Catholic Church to Linda R. Distler. Gary loved to play cards and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed watching MeTV, the KC Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Gary is survived by his wife, Linda Bardwell; daughter, Shelly (Kevin) Flippin, Jamestown; son, Bryan (Lesley) Bardwell Springfield; daughter, Melissa (Kevin) Bryant, Gladstone; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Jordan) Clough, Jaley (Mapal) Flippin, Brittany Lang, Linsey Bardwell, Brayden Bardwell, Michael (Rachael) Bryant, Amanda (Jeff) Bryant, Jo Reyes; six great-grandchildren, Kylie and Sophia Lang, Aurelia and Mekhai Bryant, Chloe Aquino, and Maddy Reyes; brother, Mark Bardwell (Rosemary), California; sister, Sue Katherine Eason, California; sister-in-law, Delores Bardwell, and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by three sisters, Carole Bardwell, Phyllis Heavener, and infant sister Elizabeth Bardwel; three brothers, Oliver (Buzz) Bardwell, Richard Bardwell; an infant brother, John Bardwell, as well as a niece and nephew. Visitation was held Monday, August 16, 2021, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service. Funeral Ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service, with Fr. Tony Rinaldo officiating. Interment followed at Annunciation Catholic Cemetery.
