Barbara Valerie Cartee

Barbara Valerie Cartee, 82, of California, Mo., passed away on February 2, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born April 3, 1938, in North End, Dunmow, Essex, England, the daughter of George and Greta (Larsen) Cowens. She graduated from Helen Ramonas Secondary School. Barbara worked for the Department of Corrections at Renn's Correctional Facility, retiring as a Captain. Barbara was married to Will Cartee on August 6, 1955, at Ford End, Essex, England. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Jefferson City. Barbara loved creating paintings, singing in the church choir, working with foals; she even had an article published in a Canadian Horse Magazine. Barbara also enjoyed baking and was an avid gardener. Along with her husband, Will Cartee, Barbara is survived by her son, Danny (Gail) Cartee of Russellville; her daughter, Laurene (Tony) Frank Hickory Hill; six grandchildren, Jenny (Rick) Wehmeier, Mandy Cartee (JW Harper), Kenny (Angel) Geiser, Danny J. Cartee (Courtney Crum) Danielle Geiser (Brian Newsom) Guy Cartee; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Chris Cowens, and a sister, Daphne Hutton. A private family visitation and service will be held at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service with Rev.
