Betty June Williamson, 94, of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at California Care Center. Betty was born October 4, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., the second daughter of John Robert and Helen Marie (Stieferman) McDonald. Betty attended East High School in Kansas City and was very active in sports. World War ll was in progress, and representatives came to school and gave civil service exams. She was hired upon graduation in 1943; she went to work at the Army Effects Bureau, where they handled all returned possessions from military personnel and eventually became secretary to a Major at the U.S. Quartermaster Depot. Betty married Van Dorn Williamson on September 5, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo. Upon retirement in 1979, they moved to California, Mo. Betty became active at the Genealogy Library and the Moniteau County Historical Society and was recognized on numerous occasions for the volunteer work and countless contributions. She was a member of the Niangua Chapter of the DAR and a descendant of the Missouri Territorial Pioneers. Betty is survived by two daughters, Nancy McCoy of Greenwood, Mo. and Becky (Vince) McClure of California Mo.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Van Dorn Williamson; her daughter, Judith Ann Williamson; a grandson, Sean McCoy; and two sisters. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City.
