Mary Carolyn Shoemaker, 74, of California, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Moniteau Care Center. She was born December 1, 1946, at Latham Hospital in California, Mo., the only child of Elvin and Stella (Kirkpatrick) Lehman, both of whom preceded her in death. Mary was raised in a Christian home and attended church from cradle roll on at the United Church of Christ. At age 13 she completed Confirmation there. Mary graduated from California High School in 1964, and then attended Central Missouri State University (UCM) for one year. On June 24, 1967, she was married at High Point Baptist Church to Kelley Shoemaker, who survives of the home. Through the years, Mary sold Avon, worked various secretarial jobs for Moniteau County, and later worked for the State of Missouri Highway Department, for 23 years of service, until her retirement in March of 2008. She was a member of Red Hat Ladies. For several years, at Main Street Baptist Church, Mary sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was active with Vacation Bible School, 3MT, and several church outreach groups. Later, Mary was an active member at First Baptist Church and participated in several bible study groups. While her children were young, she was a stay at home mother. Mary was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinal's fan and an avid reader. Mary was very devoted to her grandchildren. Along with her husband, Mary is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Morris (Mike) of California; her son, Roy Shoemaker (Erin) of Fenton; six grandchildren, Lindsey Davis (Alex), Tyler Morris, Josh Shoemaker, Cecelia Shoemaker, Aidan Shoemaker, and Rogan Shoemaker; one sister-in-law, Nancy Hegg (Albert); three brothers-in-law, Charles Shoemaker (Judy), Glen Shoemaker (Kathy) and Leslie Shoemaker (Annie); and several nieces and nephews. Mary is also survived by her very special, lifelong friend Nancy Keil Rohrbach. Visitation was held Friday, June 18, 2021, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service. Funeral Ceremony was held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service with Rev. Ken Mathes, Rev. Eddie Schoeneberg, and Rev. Jeremy Anderson officiating.
