William Ray McCoy, 70, of Centertown, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021, at his home. Ray was born January 29, 1951, on McCoy Mountain in Russell County, Virginia, the son of late Luther Turner and Alma McCoy. In 1969, he graduated high school from Boys Town and was accepted into Yale University for a degree in mathematics. Ray was a jack of all trades. He was an avid lover of the game of billiards. He started Show-Me State Billiards Company. After a 25 year career at Von Hoffmann Press in Jefferson City and owning and operating McCoy Submersible Pumps, he opened McCoy's Bar & Grill so that he could pursue his passion for billiards. Ray and the pool team won many state and national titles. He enjoyed showing his kids, grandkids, friends and countless others his trick shots and the math skill behind the sport. He enjoyed his time with his fur babies - playing with them and sleeping with them. Surviving are his children: Julie (Fred) Moore, Tonya (Josh) McCoy, James (Chera) McCoy, Helen (Brian) Jaco, and Francis (Jaime) McCoy; sister: Mary Buchanan; brothers: Luther (Sandy) Welch, Carter "Jimmy" McCoy, and Willie Mace; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also, we do not want to forget his fur babies: Sassy, Mikko and Ginger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter: Ocean McCoy; grandson: Konnor McCoy; brother: Marshall McCoy; as well as his fur babies: TJ, Jazzie and others through his lifetime. The family received friends Friday, April 30 in the Meriwether Room at TYLER M. WOODS FUNERAL DIRECTOR. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Arrangements for Mr. McCoy were under the direction of TYLER M. WOODS FUNERAL DIRECTOR, 611 E. Capitol Ave. Jefferson City, Mo. Condolences may be made to the family at www.WoodsMemorialServices.com
