Lawrence Dale Strobel, 66, of Centertown, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center with his family at his side. He was born on July 16, 1955 in Jefferson City, to the late Lawrence Edward Strobel and Esther Elizabeth Bleich Strobel. He was united in marriage on February 14, 1987 at Trinity Lutheran Church to LaCota Rose Williams. He was a 1973 graduate of California High School. Over the years he was employed with MO Woods, Westinghouse/ABB, Maytag, Scholastic, Cargill and Unilever. He was incredibly proud of being a volunteer firefighter with the Regional West Fire District until a stroke kept him from continuing. When Lawrence married LaCota he became a father to three children and took on the responsibility of helping to raise and support them. He was a loving and generous dad who often worked multiple jobs to ensure his kids had what they needed. He enjoyed woodworking, taking great pride in his projects, especially the toys he crafted for his grandchildren. Everyone got a rocking horse for Christmas for their first birthday. Tragically, LaCota passed four short days before Lawrence. He is survived by his mother, Esther Strobel; children, LaToma (Jason) Payne, LaTonya (Rick) Percival and Wesley (Ivy) Trowbridge; grandchildren, Clayton Percival, Olivia Percival (Caleb Noble), Ella Percival, Flinton Percival, Dawson Payne (Natalie), Hayden Payne, LaCota Payne, Kaia Payne, Samuel Trowbridge and Lucas Trowbridge; great-granddaughter, Violet Ann Noble; brothers, David (Karla) Strobel and Wayne Strobel; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Family and friends were received on Friday, September 3, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church gymnasium in California. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church gymnasium. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery in Fortuna. Arrangements were under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109 (573) 636-3838.
