John W. Schmolzi

John W. Schmolzi, 88, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1933, near Prairie Home, Mo. in Cooper County, the son of G.H. Schmolzi and Louise (Baker) Schmolzi, both of whom preceded him in death. John was united in marriage on January 31, 1953, at the Annunciation Catholic Church to Nedra Strickfaden, who survives of the home. He served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. John was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Mo. He worked for MODOT as a surveyor until retirement. Survivors include two sons, Russell Schmolzi (Wendy) of Oregon and Roger Schmolzi (Karla) of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Ross Schmolzi, Adam Schmolzi, Tim Schmolzi, Kevin Schmolzi (Kristy); four great-grandchildren, Brandyn Schmolzi, Noah Hefner, Jonathan Fisher, Celena Schmolzi; and one great-great-grandchild, Chloe Fisher. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. Interment was at the Annunciation Catholic Cemetery with full military honors. Father Fred Elskamp officiated. Memorials are suggested to St. Peters Catholic Church or Annunciation Catholic Church, c/o the funeral home.
