Larry Hern

Larry Hern, 63, of California, MO passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 23, 1950 the son of Floyd Clementine Hern and Nadine Evelyn (Murray) both of whom preceded him in death. Larry was united in marriage on July 7, 1973 at Friendship Baptist Church to Bonnie Stepp who survives of the home. He worked for the City of California for 26 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years where he went to Vietnam from 1970 - 1971. Larry loved fishing, reading, and spending time with his family. Larry is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Hern of the home; one son, Scotty Hern and wife Holly of California, MO; one daughter, Misty Dearing and husband Billy of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Emily Dearing, Koda Dearing, Hayden Hern and Carter Hern; two half-sisters, Charlotte Whitehall of Oklahoma and Nora Mae White of Missouri. He was preceded in death by four half-brothers and one half- sister. Funeral services were Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the funeral home. The Rev. Ken Mathes officiated. Burial with full military honors was at the California City Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Compassus c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service, 100 S.
