Gregory Gene Distler, 51, of Jefferson City passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on June 26, 1963 in Jefferson City the son of Walter "Butch" Distler, who survives of California, Missouri, and Darlene Quinn Distler, who preceded him in death. Greg was a lifelong resident of Jefferson City. He attended Jefferson City Public Schools and graduated from Honolulu High School in Hawaii. He attended Lincoln University. He served in the United States Navy. He worked at Great Central Truss Company for several years until he became disabled after an automobile accident. Greg was a master gardener and was known for his beautiful tomato plants. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed smoking meat and barbecuing. He was a bargain hunter and enjoyed going to garage sales. He also loved amusement parks and roller coasters and was a frequent visitor of Six Flags and Worlds of Fun. He is survived by his lifetime companion: Lisa Alexander of the home; two daughters: Amanda Ponder and Heather Distler; one granddaughter: Rylee Tucker; one sister: Debbie Ash and husband Mark of California, Missouri; one brother: Jeff Distler and wife Gloria of Jefferson City; one niece: Alondra Distler. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Rev. Mike Quinn officiated. Interment was in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
