Jerry Allen Mills

Jerry Allen Mills, 68, of Odessa, Mo., formerly of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs, Mo. He was born in California, Mo., on November 18, 1946, to Rollie and Virginia (Simmons) Mills, both of whom preceded him in death. Jerry was a 1964 graduate of California High School. He was united in marriage on December 19, 1971, at Main Street Baptist Church to Ruby Murphy, who preceded him in death just three days prior. Jerry worked as a union carpenter. He enjoyed reading, playing the stock market, working on his Mustang, and playing dominoes. Jerry is survived by: one son, Clint Mills of Blue Springs; one daughter, Melissa McAllister and husband Rob of Ankeny, Iowa; two grandsons, Jack and Sam McAllister; one brother, Tom Mills of Grain Valley; two sisters, Judy Rosenmiller of Bowling Green, Kathy Hoelscher of Holts Summit; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ruby Mills. Visitation was held from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015. Funeral Service was held 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. Burial was held at Old Salem Cemetery, north of California. Officiating was be Rev. Roy Barnard. Memorials are suggested to the Old Salem Cemetery c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
