Eva Elaine Knorp

Eva Elaine Knorp, 93, of Prairie Home passed away at University Hospital in Columbia on Sunday, March 8, 2015 Eva Elaine Knorp was born on April 4, 1921 in Lupus, Mo, to Thomas Pettigrew and Alma (Muri) Pettigrew. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1939. She married Ewing Knorp on September 6, 1941 in St. Louis MO. Elaine lived her entire adult life in the Prairie Home community. She was a former member of the Willing Workers Farm Club, Prairie Home Civic Club and member of the First Baptist Church of Prairie Home. She also worked at the annual Prairie Home Fair Art Hall for many years. Elaine was a hardworking farm wife, a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a quiet woman, kind and respectful to everyone she met. Her faith and her church were important to her and she remained active in the church for many years. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and loved listening to her husband's many funny stories. She was admired for her beautiful vegetable garden and worked long hours to keep it weed free. Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Ewing of the home, daughter Sherryl Smith of Prairie Home, daughter Dana Newell and husband Darrell of Prairie Home, her granddaughters Debbi Baker and Connie Smith and great-granddaughter, Hailei Baker all of Kansas City, MO, sister Evelyn Blanco of El Paso,TX, sister Betty Lewis of Fulton, MO and husband Lou Lewis of Mexico, MO, sister Charlotte Sapp of Jefferson City, MO as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Smith of Prairie Home, her parents, one brother, Glenn Pettigrew of Jamestown, MO, sister and brother-in-law Marjorie and Louie Wermers of Gravois Mills, MO, brother-in-law, Stanley Sapp of Centertown, MO, brother-in-law,Vic Blanco of El Paso,Texas. Elaine was very loved by her family and will truly be missed. Funeral services for Elaine will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev Myron Couch and Rev Hal McNeal officiating. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of the service. Burial to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville,Mo. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Prairie Home.
