James Edward Bryant

James "Jim" Edward Bryant, 82, of California, Mo., passed away on Friday, November 28, 2015, at his residence in California, Mo. He was born on February 14, 1933, at McGirk, Mo., to Emmett and Maude (Kirchoff) Bryant, both of whom preceded him in death. Jim married the love of his life, Shirley, on February 29, 1952, in Hartsburg Mo., who also preceded him in death. He graduated from California R-1 High School in 1951. Jim worked for the United States Department of Agriculture until his retirement and also was the owner of a cattle order and buyer business for several years. Jim's enjoyment in life was spending time with his grandchildren and watching basketball. Jim served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He is survived by: two sons, Shea Bryant, Shannon and wife Kim, all of California, Mo. and one daughter, Barbara Kilgore of California, Mo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jim was also preceded in death not only by his parents and lovely wife, but by two brothers Bob Bryant, infant Billy Bryant and one son-in-law, Jeff Kilgore. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at the funeral home. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Morrow. Memorials are suggested to The Bryant Family c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.
