Mary Virginia Kirchhoff

Mary "Virginia" (Anderson) Kirchhoff, 87, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020, in Jefferson City. Virginia was the daughter of the late Willard Roy and Mary Louise Moss Anderson. She grew up in Tennessee. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, a trait that never left her. She received her business degree from Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee, and then her MBA from Indiana University. Virginia met the love of her life, Marvin, while teaching in Evansville, Indiana. She taught at various universities and high schools in Georgia, Indiana and Missouri. She loved singing in the United Church of Christ Church Choir and was a founding member of the three and four year old playschool in California, Mo. She also played a significant role in church activities with her husband. Virginia returned to the workforce and retired from the Missouri Department of Social Services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Marvin Kirchhoff, and brothers, Clifford Anderson and Wilroy Anderson. Virginia is survived by her children, Sharon (Dale) Hilpert of San Francisco, Calif. and Paul (Michelle) Kirchhoff of Jefferson City; and three grandchildren, Brian, Anya and Payton. The family would like to give special thanks to Virginia's caregivers at Villa Marie as well as Michelle Kirchhoff who spent many hours and lots of love assisting her. When Alzheimer's robbed her of her memory, she would still ask for hugs from Michelle. Virginia will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and caring person; easy to laugh and difficult to anger. She had a life well lived. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at California United Church of Christ, with Rev. Bill Secoy and Rev. Russell Cobb officiating. Interment will follow at the California UCC Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home in California, Mo. on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
