Robert Wayne Belt

Robert Wayne Belt, 86, of Centertown, Mo., entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at his home with his wife of 67 years and his daughter by his side. Robert was born on October 6, 1934, in Henley, Mo. to Melvin and Edna (Carrendar) Belt. He was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Gilpin on December 28, 1953. Robert proudly served in the United States Air Force from October 1953 October 1957. He worked several places over the years but, retired from ABB (formerly Westinghouse) in February of 1997, after many years of employment. Robert loved playing bluegrass music and was a part of a weekly jam session in California, Mo. for over 20 years. He also played at several nursing homes in the area and was a member of the music group at the churches he attended over the years. The main instrument he played was the acoustic guitar but also enjoyed playing his dobro and electric guitar. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Gilpin) Belt; daughter, Cheryl Belt, of Centertown, Mo.; a sister, JoAnn (Belt) Reed, California, Mo. and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews that loved him very much. He was proceeded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gene Belt, Leon Belt, Bill Belt; and one sister, Jewell (Belt) Harris. A Private Family Service will be held at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Walter Gilpin. Burial will be at the Centertown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Stained Glass Theatre of Mid Missouri or the Centertown Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
