Vence Lehman

Vence Lehman, 88, of California, Mo., passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Tipton Oak Manor in Tipton, Mo. He was born on April 3, 1933, to Allen and Grace (Miller) Lehman near Latham, Mo. Vence attended a country grade school and then graduated from the Tipton High School.He was a Corporal in the United States Army from September 2, 1953 to March 25, 1955, serving in Korea. Vence earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Metal. He worked in the service station industry in Eldon, Mo. and in California, Mo. since 1956, and retired in June of 1996. Vence was united in marriage to Marian Rohrbach Hays on November 3, 1982, at their new home in California, Mo. by Pastor John Campbell. He was a faithful member and usher of the California First Baptist Church. Vence loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended their church and school activities. He enjoyed gardening, traveling to many places including Canada, Hawaii and took many trips to Branson, Mo. Vence enjoyed fishing with his good friend Paul Branstetter. He is survived by his wife, Marian Lehman of the home; two sons, Jeff Lehman (Laura) of St. Louis, Mo., Mark Lehman of Columbia, Mo.; one stepson, Kevin Hays (Joan) of California, Mo.; two grandchildren, Nick Hays (Kimberly) of California, Mo., Lindsey Hays Porter (Ryan) of Centertown, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren, Eli Porter, Nikaylee Hays, Keaton Hays, Sophie Porter, Aubrey Porter, Kaiden Hays, Elyse Porter, Harper Porter, Emery Porter; one sister, Charlene Schnack of Jefferson City, Mo.; and one half-sister Loyce Sharp of Kansas City, Mo. Vence was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Grace Lehman; three brothers, Allen Lehman Jr., Miller Lehman, Marvin (Mike) Lehman; two sisters, Doris Bruce, Donna Eager; one half-brother, Kenneth Kelsay; two half-sisters, Ceola Barnes, Opal Blomingburg; and one great-granddaughter, Ella Porter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. 12 noon with a funeral service immediately following at 12 noon, all at the California First Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jeremy Anderson. Burial will be at the California City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, Mo.
