Ronald C. Thompson, 79, of California, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born September 23, 1941, in Belle, Missouri, a son of the late William C. and Helen M. (Hafner) Thompson. He was united in marriage on December 8, 1990, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, to Marie J. Lamm, who survives at the home. Ron worked for the City of Jefferson from 1966 until his retirement as Maintenance Supervisor in 1988. He loved building race engines, smoking meat and BBQ. He also enjoyed racing, fishing, playing the guitar and spending time with family. Ron was also a Chief Umpire for the Parks and Recreation and the Babe Ruth League for several years. Along with his wife Marie, Ron is also survived by his son: Ryan W. Thompson; four children from his previous marriage: Richard C. Thompson (Karla), Vicki M. Wineland (Kevin), Ilona "Buffy" Kiss, and a daughter, Jennifer R. Crump (Jeffrey); two step-daughters: Charity H. Epple and Amber L. Welch (Jeremy); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Randy Y. Thompson in 2003, a sister: Doris D. Thompson in 2005, and a grandson: Lance Bingaman in 2014. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home in Jefferson City, with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
