Upcoming Road Work for Mid-Missouri

The following is a listing of general hiighway maintenance and construction work in the Mid-Missouri area for Wednesday, Dec. 22 through Friday, Dec. 31. Scheduled construction and maintenance operations affecting traffic will cease for the Christmas holiday on Friday, Dec. 24 and resume ooon Monday, Dec. 27 and for the New Year holiday on Friday, Dec. 31. Work will resume on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. Weather conditions may cause postponents in the work schedule. Other connnstruction or maintenance work may occur on other roadways throughout the area. Many projects will include lane closures and delays can be expected.

Benton County

Daylight Hours

Route 65 from south of Route 52 to just north of the Osage River in Warsaw

– Widening highway to four lanes continues.

  • Temporary lane closures on existing Route 65 and Truman Dam Access Road can be expected as the contractor works on box culverts and pipes for the new roadway. Crews will flag traffic through the work areas. The project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2012.

Route 65 between Route 7 North and Route T – Roadway maintenance and repair continues through Wednesday, Dec. 22. One lane in will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Route 7 North between Route 65 and Route KK – Roadway maintenance and repair will take place Monday, Dec. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 30. One lane in will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Boone County

Daylight Hours

Route E between Route 124 and Route 740 in Columbia – Culvert pipe replacement continues through Thursday, Dec. 30. The route will be closed to through traffic and motorists should seek an alternate route.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

North Outer Road of Interstate 70, four miles east of Route Z at the Cedar Creek bridge – Bridge replacement is nearing completion. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic the week of Dec. 27. Motorists should find alternate routes around the work area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Callaway County

Daylight Hours

Interstate 70 bridge over Auxvasse Creek – Bridge maintenance and repair in the westbound lanes continues through Thursday, Dec. 30. One westbound lane will be open through the work area.

Route 54 bridge over Gateway Railroad, approximately one mile south of County Road 210 – Bridge deck maintenance will take place in the eastbound lanes Monday, Dec. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 30. One eastbound lane will be open to traffic through the work area.

Camden County

Daylight Hours

Route 54 in Linn Creek at the intersections of Route V and Business Park Road/East Valley Drive – Median turn lane construction and intersection improvements.

  • Grading and drainage work continues for the new Business Park Road and East Valley Drive widening. No traffic delays are expected at this time. This project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011.

Route 54 between the Grand Glaize Bridge to west of Route KK in Osage Beach

– Grading, drainage work, paving and bridges for the new Route 54 Expressway.

  • The new Case Road overpass is open to traffic and provides access to Broadwater Road and Oak Road. Traffic signals at Case Road and Route 54 have been activated.

  • Grading work continues to tie in the new Jeffries Road to the existing Route 54. One westbound and eastbound lane of Route 54 will periodically be closed during the work. Traffic delays can be expected. Paving for the connection continues.

  • Grading, drainage and erosion control work continues from Nichols Road to Jeffries Road.

  • Grading, drainage and erosion control work continues from Route KK to the west end of the project.

  • Asphalt paving continues, as weather permits, on the new service road from Oak Road to Normandy Road.

  • Asphalt paving continues, as weather permits, has started on the new service road from Case Road to Mariner Circle.

  • El Terra Lane is now open to traffic and is accessible from New Burton Duenke Lane off existing Route KK. Asphalt paving continues, weather permitting. Temporary Pavement markings will be installed and maintained throughout the winter. This portion of the project is scheduled for completion in summer 2011.

Cole County

Daylight Hours/Overnight Hours

Route 54 Eastbound/Route 63 Northbound at the Missouri River Bridge – Construction of a pedestrian/bicycle bridge attachment continues.

  • Concrete work is taking place on the south end of the pedestrian attachment substructure.

  • Construction on the steel ramp structure on the north end of the project is complete. Crews are painting and installing fence to the ramp structure.

  • The contractor is fabricating and attaching brackets to the floor beams of the bridge in preparation for securing the new attachment.

  • The following changes are now in place until spring 2011:

  • The Main Street on ramp to the bridge is closed.

  • Lanes leading up to and crossing the bridge are narrowed. Motorists will cross the bridge using three 11 ft. lanes.

  • A concrete barrier is installed across the bridge to separate lanes of traffic from the construction crews and equipment.

  • The shoulder of the bridge, which also currently serves as a

pedestrian path, is closed. Pedestrians should also note that no shoulder

is available on the U.S. Route 54 westbound/U.S. Route 63 southbound bridge leading into Jefferson City.

  • The speed limit is reduced from 60 mph to 45 mph through the area. The project is expected to be complete in late spring 2011.

Cole and Miller Counties

Daylight Hours

Route AA between Route 54 and Tellman Road – Culvert pipe replacement will take place in various locations Monday, Dec. 27 through Friday, Dec. 30. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through each work area.

Route 50 between Route M and City View Drive – Concrete replacement will take place in the eastbound and westbound lanes through Thursday, Dec. 30. One lane in each direction will be open through the work area.

Maries County

Daylight Hours

Route 63, one half mile north of the Gasconade River Bridge – Rock will be cut back for preventative maintenance of freeze/thaw rock slides during winter months. The contractor will periodically blast rock through

February 2011. When the blasting is underway, all traffic on Route 63 will be stopped for short periods. Periodic lane closures will occur and crews will flag traffic through the area. Motorists should expect delays.

Miller County

Daylight Hours

Route W between Business Route 54 and Route Y – Culvert pipe replacement continues through Thursday, Dec. 30. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Moniteau County

Daylight Hours

Route D bridge over Moniteau Creek, east of the Cooper County line – Bridge maintenance continues through Thursday, Dec. 30. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Morgan County

Daylight Hours

Route D between Route 50 and Route 52 – Culvert pipe replacement continues in various locations through Thursday, Dec. 30. One lane will be open and crews will flag traffic through the work area.

Pettis County

Daylight Hours

Route 65 between Route 50 and Route Y – Roadway maintenance and repair in the southbound lanes continues through Thursday, Dec. 30. One southbound lane will be open through the area.

Route H bridge over Muddy Creek, four miles west of Route 65 – Bridge maintenance and painting continues through Thursday, Dec. 30. One lane will be open through the work area. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Daylight/Overnight Hours

Route 52 bridge over Persimmon Creek, three miles east of Route B – Bridge replacement has been completed. The bridge opened to traffic on December 15. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.

Route U bridge over Spring Fork Creek, one mile south of Route V – Bridge replacement is nearing completion. The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic the week of Dec. 20. The bridge is closed during construction. Traffic on Route U is being detoured around the work area on Routes V, 65

and 52. The bridge is closed to traffic during construction. This project is part of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.
