Ag director recognizes champion cabbage grower

The winner of the Bonnie Plants Missouri $1,000 scholarship for 2011 is California student fourth grader Amber Trachsel, daughter of Darrell and Amy Trachsel. The award was presented at the California Elementary School assembly on Thursday, Dec. 22.

Dr. Jon Hagler, Director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture, recognized the young winner for her effort in growing the 36 pound winning cabbage. The seedling was provided by Bonnie Plants.
