A Tough Year in 2010 for Moniteau County Budget

It was a tough year for the county in 2010. According to Presiding County Commissioner Kenny Kunze, it does not look as if 2011 is going to be much better.

"The General Revenue Fund could not meet the expenditures in 2010 without receiving additional money from the Capital Improvement Fund," according to County Clerk Anita Groepper. The Road and Bridge Fund was in little better shape, since it saw no increase in revenues for 2010. But expenditures were up nearly $200,000 due to the weather in the spring months of 2009-10.

As Moniteau County begins the 2011 budget year, total funds available are $2,664,557.30. Estimated revenues of $3,420,122.45 added to that beginning amount makes a total of $6,084,679.75 available for appropriation. Deducting the total estimated appropriations in the amount of $5,647,641.07 which have been approved by the County Commission, the County will have an estimated ending balance of $437,038.68 on Dec. 31, 2011.
