Prairie Home School eighth grader Amber Carmichael was recently chosen by the University Hospital, Columbia, to be a volunteer with the 2011 Summer Youth Program. Amber will spend eight weeks of her summer doing volunteer work at either Ellis Fischel Cancer Center or Women's and Children's Hospital. "I'm excited about this rewarding opportunity where I will gain valuable knowledge and experience in a hospital environment," Amber said.
