California JV, freshman Pintos win openers at Versailles

The California High School freshman and JV football teams played their first games of the 2011 season Aug. 29 at Versailles, where both came away with a win.

The freshman Pintos defeated the Tigers 21-0, while the JV Pintos won 14-12. (Both were only two-quarter games, due to the number of players.)

Regarding California's freshman win, California Coach Rich Matzes said, "We played well for our first game, but we have some things to work on to prepare for our next game."
