Pintos end season with loss to Pirates

The California Pintos faced Boonville May 15 in the semifinal round of the Class 3 District 9 Baseball Tournament at Osage, where they suffered a 7-4 loss to the #2 seeded Pirates to end the season 7-12.

Boonville led 6-0 after two innings, however, the Pintos put two points on the board in the fourth inning and another two in the fifth. The Pirates scored one run in the fifth to lead 7-4 going into the sixth inning. A scoreless sixth and seventh inning left the win with Boonville.

"We had a rough start, but played very well after the second inning," California Coach Dwight Fitzwater said. "We had trouble until we brought Addison Jobe in the game to pitch. He is a competitor. In the second inning, he asked me if he could pitch. I've never pitched a player the day after he threw 55 pitches, but he convinced me he could do it effectively. I reluctantly brought him in and he did a fine job, allowing only two hits in four innings."
