Prairie Home Baseball

Prairie Home opened the 2012 season at Glasgow Aug. 27, where the Panthers lost a close contest, 13-12.

"We gave them everything we had," Prairie Home Coach Jesse Oswald said. "Our guys really gave it their all to try and come away with this one and in the end we really just ran out of innings. Klay Holliday threw a heck of a game considering he was unable to pitch a whole lot in practice due to an injury. Jonathan Brandes really stepped up for us in relief."

Kody Utterback, Sam Distler and Colt Howell each contributed two singles.

Oswald added, "All of the guys contributed and I couldn't be more proud of them. Down 10-0 after four innings would be a time a lot of teams might throw in the towel, but the guys stayed up and positive and battled."

The Panthers traveled to Bunceton Aug. 28, where they lost 14-9.

Nathan Small recorded the loss with nine strikeouts. Holliday led Panther hits with a triple and a single.

"We came out kind of flat and didn't have the same energy and intensity as the night before against Glasgow," Oswald said. "Defensively we did okay. We had a few mistakes on both offense and defense, but we just really didn't give it our all."

The Panthers traveled to Jamestown Thursday, where they captured a 15-7 win from the Eagles.

Holliday pitched three innings and recorded three strikeouts. Brandes pitched 1/3 inning and Trever Huth pitched 1 2/3 innings and had five strikeouts.
