Pintos and Indians compete at Southern Boone Golf Classic

The California High School and Russellville High School varsity boys' golf teams competed at the Sixth Annual Southern Boone Golf Classic April 10 at Eagle Knoll Golf Club, where the Pintos finished seventh out of 17 teams, while the Indians finished eighth.

Southern Boone placed first as a team with 326, followed by Blair Oaks with 333; Mexico, 343; North Callaway, 354; Cuba, 359; Fulton, 373; California, 375; Russellville, 381; Linn, 392; and Fayette, 405.

Other participating schools included Hallsville, Southern Boone JV, Fatima, New Bloomfield, Versailles, South Callaway and Harrisburg.

The top 15 individual finishers included medalist Blake Lammers, Southern Boone, with 70, who placed first. Russellville's Chandler Wolf finished sixth with 79, while teammate Clayton Harrison finished 14th with 85. Other individual results for Russellville are as follows: Levi Anderson, 50th with 107; Devin Koestner, 57th with 110; and Coy Bond, 71st with 123.

Individual results for California are as follows: Kade McAdams, 19th with 87; Curtis Lehman, 26th with 92; Tyler Elliott, 32nd with 97; John Wolken, 37th with 99; and Conner George, 58th with 112.

"I was excited to see how we did," California Coach Doug Miller said. "It was our best outing up to this point in the season. Kade missed medaling by two strokes and he and Curtis and John shot personal bests. We definitely showed improvement."

California competed at the Centralia Tournament Monday at Arthur Hills Golf Course, Mexico, where the Pintos finished in third place out of 11 teams with 343. Louisiana placed first with 317, followed by Palmyra with 333. Centralia placed fourth with 349, and the Missouri Military Academy finished fifth with 367.

Centralia's Daymond Dollens was the medalist with 73 individually.

California was led by McAdams with 83, who finished seventh overall individually; Lehman shot an 84, and placed ninth overall; Elliott shot an 85, and placed 11th overall; Conner George shot a 91 and finished 20th; and Wolken shot 100 and finished 31st overall.

"It was a good outing for us," Miller said. "Our best round of golf so far this season. But I'm certain our boys would be doing even better if we had decent greens to practice on. Our course hasn't been kept up for the last four years, which has definitely affected our putting, so when you take that into consideration, we are at a disadvantage."

The Pintos will participate in the Tri-County Conference Golf Tournament today (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. at Warsaw.
