California Cargill closes early Thursday

The Cargill Inc. turkey processing plant in California closed early Thursday, July 25, due to a possible safety issue.

According to a statement released by Director of Communications Mike Martin, Wichita, Kan., "Today, during routine maintenance in the plant a leaky valve was discovered in the refrigeration system. Because we always err on the side of safety, the decision was made to send people home early today so repairs to the valve could be made. We expect to be operating sometime tomorrow."
