CPI approves historic district logo
Wednesday, June 26, 2013
A logo for California Historic District (CHD) was approved by California Progress, Inc. (CPI), its parent organization, at the CPI board meeting, on Tuesday, June 18.
The logo features a portion of the current Historical Society building which served as the Post Office until 1937.
In other business, the board discussed possible future fundraisers, both for CPI and for the CHD with no solid decisions made. Since CPI will still have ownership of the Finke Theatre until September of 2014, there is the possibility of using it for a fundraiser during that time.
Because of recent water leaks at the theater, the CPI has increased the inspections of possible problem areas. The Friends of the Finke Theatre reported the leaks after a fierce wind and rain storm a little more than a month ago. The Friends group is taking care of repair of the damage.
The Taste of Mid-Missouri event for Saturday, scheduled for June 22, was discussed with consideration of providing tables and chairs.
Representatives of two of the CHD committees, Organization and Design, presented reports to the CPI board. The committees plan to avoid duplicating work being done by the DREAM Initiative group on signage and to work out a project for a NAP application.
The possibility of a farmers market was discussed. The regulations governing such events must be worked through. It is hoped there can be a forum for those interested in a farmers market in August. It is hoped a farmers market can be held with times and place to be worked out.
The Sock, Hop & Roll fundraiser on June 7 was reported to have been very good. The CHD received more than $4,000 from the event.
