CMS track team wraps up season with conference meet

The California Middle School track team competed at the conference track meet May 7 at Osage, the final meet of the 2013 season, where the eighth grade Pintos finished in fourth place, while the seventh grade boys placed fifth, and both the seventh and eighth grade Lady Pintos placed sixth.

Also competing at the conference meet were Warsaw, Versailles, Eldon, Blair Oaks, Hallsville, Osage and Southern Boone.

"It was perfect weather for a track meet," CMS Track Coach Jill Meisenheimer said. "One of the only nice days we've had so far this track season."

Top finishers for CMS included Gunner Baquet, who placed first in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump.

"Gunner broke the conference record for the eighth grade boys' Long Jump with 18'9.25"," Meisenheimer said. "Ellie Wirts medaled in all four of her events. Kayla Allison placed first in the eighth grade girls Pole Vault, and Cory Friedmeyer placed first in the seventh grade boys Pole Vault."
