The Aurora Montessori school, California, held graduation exercises at Friendship Baptist Church Thursday, May 16, at 11 a.m. The 2013 Class were Devan Kay Brown, Maxwell Robert Smith Dunnaway, Willis Dean Lehman, Hadley Bea Milligan, Madelyn Brooke Nokes, Tristan David Nokes, Haden Loyd Oliver, Ava Jane Scholtzhauer, Breckin Monroe Traver, Evan Michael Turner and Boden Randall Wasser.
The graduates entered the church while "Pomp and Circumstance" played. The invocation was given by Evan Turner's grandfather, the Rev. Clifton Hodges, Beulah Baptist Church, Richland.
The children recited many things they learned including, "We All Live in the Universe", "The United States," "Do You Remember," "Going Up," "Education/Graduation," and "Thank You." Each student received a diploma and flower for their family. Pam Moreland presented the class of 2013 to those in attendance. The children finished the program by singing "Oh, This is Graduation Day" and "Adio's, Amigos!"
The children wore different color tassels to indicate their level of completion in school. White tassels will be returning next year to the school. Gold tassels will be entering first grade and red tassels will be going to kindergarten.
