Russellville track project moves to Phase 5

RUSSELLVILLE — The fifth and final phase of the Cole County R-I Schools track complex should be open for bids soon.

At its regular meeting Thursday, the Board of Education decided to employ an architect to prepare a drawing and documents to bid the construction of the concessions/restrooms/storage building.

The plan is to have the building in place by the next track season.

Following a closed session, the board accepted letters of retirement from Donna O’Neal and from Kenyon Maier and a letter of resignation from Becky Schulte.

They hired Suzanne Lackman as special services teacher, Taylor Chandler as K-8 vocal music teacher, and Shawn Smith as assistant middle school boys’ basketball coach.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a five-cent increase in meal prices for the 2013-2014 school year

• Declared Bus #4 to be sold as surplus property.

• Awarded the bid to install a partition wall with double doors in the elementary school to Brady Glass.
