Seventh grade Pintos win opener

The California Middle School seventh grade boys basketball team opened the 2013-14 season at home Thursday, Nov. 21, where the young Pintos defeated Fulton 52-29.

"It was a great way to kick off our season," California Coach Scott Loring said. "We played tough defense all night long and really did a nice job keeping Fulton out of the paint."

The Pintos led 9-5 after one quarter, 21-12 at the half, and 37-21 after three quarters.

Isaac Ash led California with 10 points, three steals and two assists. Yance Wolfrum chipped in with eight points, and Kraig Walker had eight.

Trystan Hees led Pinto rebounds with eight. Jordon Geiser and Scott Staton each had four steals.

The CMS eighth grade boys lost to Fulton, 49-39.

Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Pintos will play Blair Oaks at 6 p.m. at Wardsville. The eighth grade game will follow.
