The California High School varsity girls golf team competed at the Class 1 District 2 Golf Tournament Monday at Redfield Country Club, Euguene, where the Lady Pintos finished in third place with 407. St. Dominic won with 373, followed by Russellville in second place with 390. Osage placed fourth with 408, and St. Francis Borgia finished fifth with 423. (The top two teams and next 15 individuals at the district tourney qualify to advance to sectionals.)
Osage's Taylor Hayes was the medalist with 75.
California was led by Haley Goans, who placed ninth (tie) with a 96. Sophie Brant placed 13th with 100; Rylee Glenn, 17th with 104; Becca Hamilton, 20th (tie) with 107; and Renee Roberts, 27th (tie) with 113.
Goans, Brant, Hamilton and Glenn qualified individually to advance to Class 1 District 2 Sectionals Monday, Oct. 14, at Crescent Farms Golf Course, St. Louis.
Goans and Brant also earned All-District honors.
"The girls have played well as a team all season long, and districts was no exception," California Coach Ashley Atteberry said. "I'm happy with our third place finish. Only one other team qualified four individuals. We're looking forward to sectionals."
California hosted a triangular Wednesday, Oct. 2, where the Lady Pintos finished in second place with 191. Helias won the match with 180, while Southern Boone finished third with 197.
Jenna Kosmatka, Helias, was the overall medalist with a 41.
California was led by Goans, who shot a 42. Brant shot a 49, and Hamilton and Roberts each shot a 50.
"As a whole, our team is solid," Atteberry said after the triangular.
