Lady Pintos scratch Lady Tigers

The Lady Pintos hosted Versailles Oct. 8, where California's varsity defeated the Lady Tigers 25-16 and 25-14.
"We had a rough start, but the girls were able to pull it together and come from behind in the first set to win," California Coach Julie Bailey said. "Sydney Deeken and Caitlin Meyer had an outstanding night."
Deeken led California with 13 kills, 10 digs and three aces. Meyer had six kills and eight digs. Madilyn Safley had 10 assists, four digs and one ace. Abby Lueckenotte had 12 assists. Kayla Allison had eight digs and Paige Halsey had three kills and one block.
California's JVA won 25-15 & 25-20.
Emma Bailey had seven digs, four kills, four assists and four aces. Monica Whitson had five assists, six digs, one kill and two aces. Cameron Meyer had five kills and four digs, and Jasmine Wells had five digs, two kills, four aces and one assist. Adrienne Strickfaden chipped in with four digs and two kills, and Lindsey Morris had two kills, one dig and one ace.
The Lady Pintos traveled to Russellville Thursday, where California's varsity won 25-6 and 25-16.
"Our girls came out the first set focused and ready to play," Bailey said. "They came together as a team and played well. Sydney dominated at the net and Kayla and Abby's serves were instrumental in our win."
Deeken had 12 kills, nine digs, three blocks and five aces. Meyer had nine digs and two kills. Lueckenotte had 10 assists, two digs and five aces. Morgan Henley had seven digs and three aces, Safley had seven assists and three digs. Ashtyn Goans chipped in with three kills and one dig.
California's JVA defeated Russellville 25-13 and 25-15.
Bailey had seven assists, six digs, one kill and six aces. Whitson had four digs, two kills, two assists and four aces. Meyer had four kills, four digs, one block and two aces. Strickfaden had two kills, two digs and two aces. Wells had seven digs and one kill.
California's varsity participated in the Versailles Tourney Saturday, where the Lady Pintos pocketed a win against Warsaw and Versailles, and a loss to Osage and Stover.
In pool play, California defeated Warsaw 25-8 and 25-4, lost to Osage 18-25 and 23-25, and defeated Versailles 26-24 and 25-16.
In bracket play, the Lady Pintos, seeded fifth, lost 28-30 and 12-25 to #4 seeded Stover.
"We had to go through a lot of adjustments," Bailey said. "Our senior setter Abby Lueckenotte was gone and Sydney Deeken was injured. They pulled it together against Versailles to win and fought hard against Stover."
Halsey led California in tourney play with 18 kills and six blocks. Deeken had 15 kills and seven blocks. Strickfaden had 16 kills and one block. Meyer had 12 kills, 36 digs and tw aces. Emma Bailey had 31 assists, 26 digs and 11 aces. Safley had 19 digs and 31 assists and Henley had 26 digs and three aces. Allison contributed four aces.
"Paige Halsey and Adrienne Strickfaden stepped up to play tough on the front row," Bailey added. "As always, Caitlin Meyer was great offensively and defensively, while Morgan Henley and Kayla Allison's serving and digging were keys to our wins."
California will host Osage at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
