The new restroom faculty on the north side of Proctor Park was placed last week near the north shelter house. Weighing in at 54,000 pounds, the concrete building was built in Illinois and trucked in. It was set in place by a large crane.

The original plan was to have a building constructed on-site, but it turned out to be more cost-effective to purchase a pre-made concrete structure to be shipped in and placed on the site which already had water, electric and sewer services put in by the City of California. The building was purchased from McCann Concrete products, Dorsey, Ill.

According to the manufacturer, the building could also serve as a temporary storm shelter.

The need for the new facility resulted from an incident several years ago when a vehicle ran through the side of the old one during a heavy snow storm. The new one is more convenient, since it is on the same side of the street which goes through the park as the north shelter house.
